Since dawn of humankind's awareness, we have recorded history in the form of drawings and writings, developing habits of storytelling to express what we see. Though what man sees and how interprets are not always the same.

Unsung Giant Jennifer Pendon Robert Roose Diogo Landô Books

Stories about myths are my favorites. When I came across Unsung Giant, I knew that I had to buy it. Once I started reading it, I absolutely could not stop. I got very attached to Loki and was upset when the book ended because I wanted to keep reading more! I had always been curious about Loki because my husband was always obsessing over Thor and wasn't giving Loki any credit. Loki is a very complex character and that is probably what really drew me into him. I had my husband read this after I finished it and he felt empathy for Loki because he's just a misunderstood character. It's nice to know both stories! The book was written with awesome detail and was easy to follow. I highly enjoyed this, as did my husband. I definitely recommend!

Unsung Giant Jennifer Pendon Robert Roose Diogo Landô Books Reviews

Loki is often interpreted as the evil, mischievous and selfish brother, while Thor is the good one fighting evil. In this book, Loki was redeemed. He seems like he is just misunderstood. Unsung Giant shows a deeper character of Loki. I got immersed in the book, and with my vivid imagination, I imagine Loki as a strong (well, they're gods, so..) 'person', but needing reassurance. It seemed to me that he was lost and wanting acceptance from those who surround him. I love how Loki developed in the story, and I feel like a lot of people can relate to what he went through.
I thought it was good, well written and creative. Different than I thought it would be.
I truly enjoyed this book
I enjoyed hearing the story before the story and look forward to finding out what caused Loki to become the outlaw that I have seen in the movies.
I wanted to like the book I really did I payed not attention to the books reviews and bought it seeing that it was about the Norse gods and I regret it it reads like a piece of fanfiction it's writen well enough but the plot reminds me to much of marvel for me to enjoy it as a piece of true Norse mythology.
Captain America and the Red Skull. Need I say more? Loki as the king of Asgard and Thor as his friend. Loki lifts mjolnir.
Honestly, it makes me happy that someone wants to write about Loki and try to salvage his reputation...but this isn't the way to do it.

I wanted to like this story but right away the cover image made me think of Marvel's Thor movies and Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Loki (was I the only one who saw a resemblance between the cover image and Tom Hiddleston?) Don't get me wrong, I love the Thor movies and Tom's take on Loki but I was hoping for something a little different here.

Right away, the writing style left something to be desired; the author needs to check her use of past and present tense. The two get mixed up alot and it becomes confusing to read. The version needs some serious editing. I kept finding typos and that really makes it hard for me to read something. Then I came upon the mention of the Tessaract and I immediately felt like I was reading fan fiction...and then the movie references kept popping up. I widely read fan fiction, I admit it. And there's a ton of writers and stories I've read that are much more well-written, better plotted and better edited. Just better work all around and the best part is I can read them for free online!

This story isn't completely terrible but it needs a lot of help to be what it is aiming at. I give the author kudos for trying, at least. I do feel a bit ripped off for paying for it when the quality is that of mediocre fan fiction, at best.
I started off thinking this is another retelling of the Norse gods until I got toward the end and names of Marvel Comics characters popped up. Then I realized this is some kind of crazy fan fiction.
